As we learned yesterday with the Northland getting older, more product for our highly experienced residents is being proposed. Two more assisted living facilities are being proposed.
First, someone is seeking zoning approval to construct some more assisted living product just north of Northland Cathedral. It will be just to the north of the existing church and at the end of NW 99th Street. Below is the layout with an overall context.
This is a more zoomed in engineering drawing.
The unfortunate thing about this is that the three lane NW 99th Street won't connect to N Wyandotte Street. From what I understand neighborhood opposition to the connection prevented it from happening. Unfortunately this means people will continue to zoom past the playground at Romey Hills Park on the overly wide three lane NW 101st Place rather than zooming down NW 99th Street which has no houses on it.
Another proposed assisted living facility is located off of Shoal Creek Parkway just south of Route 152 and is going to be called Oxford at Shoal Creek. Nothing too exciting about it.
I'm sure they'll get some nice folks in there (I hope).
