Picture of the second Hannibal Bridge courtesy of the 1950 Paseo Toll Bridge Study. If you haven't seen my blog post with a 1940's picture of the bridge you can see it here or the opening day picture of the first Hannibal Bridge courtesy of the Kansas City City Manager's Centennial Report here.
This is looking east from somewhere between 4th Street and Woodsweather.
This is what it looks like today from the general area I am guessing. If you zoom into the street view, it looks like that rock wall in the lower right hand corner of the picture above is still there. I think the railroad in the picture above was the one that went up to 2nd Street and was the bridge moved to Union Station years ago (story here).
This is looking north from about where the Broadway Bridge viaduct goes over Woodsweather.
Amazing how the road deck on the bridge still looks the same. The ramp is obviously gone. This is the best view I could get from street view.
The Hannibal Bridge is of course a rotating bridge which turns to allow large ships to pass. I can't confirm how it turns but after doing some research, I found this video which leads me to think it's operated by trolls....
