Last year's NW 72nd Street project was such a painful experience I've blocked most of the memories...
However, I was going through pictures tonight and had flashbacks. A year ago this week, this is what the street looked less than 60 days before school started.
That whole project was one coordination magic act. If I didn't have a lot of people who I still need to thank all working together, this would have been an unmitigated disaster.
The project got off to a slow start because AT&T had a 40+ year old clay tile duct bank which was in the way and is shown below.
In order to keep service to most of Platte County, they had to excavate, crush the clay duct, place semi-circle new plastic ducts around the cables, snap the ducts together together, and lower the whole thing. There also was a lot of prayer involved as no one was sure if there was enough slack or stretch in the line to keep from having to splice the cable. AT&T's contractor accomplished this with a trench box and super strong bungee cords.
Nothing could really be done on the job till this line was all clear. We couldn't do this work with the road open which further compressed the schedule.
Many many thanks to Joe Bullimore and his staff with AT&T who did everything on his end to get the design done, project bid, and contractor scheduled to keep us moving along.
