In honor of the person who couldn't wait to mail their taxes in Riverside today, I thought I'd finish a post I started over a year ago.
A while back when I was researching about the old Riverside drive-in movie theater, I also noticed that there was a race track in Riverside. The old 1935 USGS topo map shows it was a rather large facility.
At some point between then and 1964, the drive-in movie theater was built and the track got smaller.
I scanned the write up from a copy of "The History of Riverside" book that was printed in 2001 as part of the 50 year anniversary of the city which has some more detail.
Being Platte County, I'm sure there were some regular "characters" who frequented the place.

Does anyone remember a guy blowing himself up with dynamite while sitting in easy chair, at Riverside racetrack around 1975?
