I put the question mark because the funding package and all the deals aren't done but Karen Ridder wrote a nice article about the project which appeared today.
Here is what the improved street would look like if you were driving down it.
The general layout of the project is shown below. Engineering has not started so this is a schematic. As the design progresses, owners will be notified and a public meeting for input and information about construction schedules and phasing.
The project really hasn't started. The first step in getting a project constructed is to find the money to build it which is what happened with the passage of KCMO Ordinance 140050.
The improvements won't make it to Waukomis yet. KCMO hopes to secure additional federal funds to finish the corridor all the way to the west. Anyone or homes association who live along the corridor who would like to send a support letter for additional federal funding, send me an email and I will get you the details.
There still is a lot of work that needs to be done and the whole funding package isn't worked out but hopefully will be by the end of the year.
I'd thought they'd talked about doing traffic circles on the interchanges. Ah well. It'll have sidewalks, so that'll be a vast improvement over the people walking through my back yard.
