If you live in Missouri, at some point you will get termites. It has something to do with our soil type and climate. We discovered our invasion roughly 3 years ago when they came up through the joint between the garage floor slab and basement wall. The entrance tunnel was right where the furnace abutted the wall and was hard to inspect since space was tight and pitch black.
The burrowers followed the air duct up to the second floor and the only reason why I knew we were infected was a cluster of them started eating the paper on the sheetrock right at the ceiling.
We called around and the best deal/service was our own local Gunter Pest Management. I don't know if they take care of Articulus MarioCuomus (fitting name for destructive vermin...) so I hope you don't have the misfortune of having to deal with them.
Film credits to Universal Pictures from the Fletch Lives movie.
