I made the moronic mistake of taking I-35 from downtown south the other day and forgot to check the official MoDOT website with what's closed and what lanes are opened. It reminded me that I stumbled over an old picture of the Southwest Trafficway viaduct when it first opened.
I don't remember if I got it from and old book my mom gave me which was torn up and didn't have a cover or any way to credit it or an old study from KCMO. It was probably the latter (for those of you that went to the University of Indiana, the latter means the last option--old study).
This is looking north from Penn Valley Park towards downtown. Southwest Boulevard is the street right under the highway. I think that is a streetcar on the cross street about to go under the bridge.
This shot is from above downtown looking towards the Plaza.
