I often question why I-29 is six lanes all the way to the airport every time I drive up there. With the work and lane restrictions down to 4 lanes with the improvements to the Tiffany Springs Parkway interchange, I wonder no more. That lane reduction is a pain in the rear. The first couple of times I was heading to a 7:30 AM KCI Corridor TIF meeting and took my usual WB 152 to NW I-29 high speed ramp and darn near took out some barricades in cars as there was not merge area due to the lane closure. I took these a while back looking north from the Old Tiffany Springs Road bridge. The grading is underway for the southbound ramp addition. I-29 will become 4 lanes between the two Tiffany's.
This is looking north from the bridge again at the new NB auxiliary lane grading. Note the aforementioned difficult merge pavement markings.
I took this one while driving down the highway of the paving machine which they were reading for the new concrete pavement.
