« Climbing Monkeys | Main | Powerplay Coming to Metro North Area? »

My standard commute, from the Englewood and Waukomis area, is:
Vivion to Gateway to MO-9 to Design Drive (the road south of the Waterworks) down to 26th Ave. Go across Burlington through the QT parking lot, and then work south down Swift. Get on Heart of America (Excellent protected bike lane there), cut through the River Market, down Beardsley to Southwest Blvd. Over to Merriam Dr, to Roe Lane, then residential streets to the office.

The bad parts are actually Southwest Blvd on the Kansas side, which Wyandotte County is getting ready to do a full repave on soon (they're finishing up major water works first, then they'll repave). The rest is easy, just lots of hills to get into downtown, then again to get into Johnson County.

Getting to downtown from the northland isn't difficult. I wish there was a better way to get through the MO-9, but based on my experience on North Oak or even Cherry, I'd rather be on MO-9. North Oak has so many driveways that it's just not safe for cyclists, and Cherry has literally no shoulders, just a falloff into a deep ditch full of debris.
