Into the great hinterlands north of Route 152, there are some sizable watersheds. Did you know that the stream that runs east of Green Hills Road at 108th Street is called 2nd Creek? Did you know that 2nd Creek crosses under I-435 just east of Skyview and eventually winds up in Smithville near US 169 and Route DD (does that get stolen often?)/Main Street?
In 2008, KCMO finished an engineering study of the Line Creek and 2nd Creek Trail system which would eventually connect Riverside to Smithville. While it will take a lot of time, some day someone will hopefully get that trail built. What is neat about this map is that it shows some of the approved developments overlaid on top of the aerial. The trail is the orange/cream line. The creeks in the area are the light blue lines. The underlying aerial is from 2004 and doesn't show the Ambassador Drive/Route 152 interchange. Even 152 and Green Hills was still a span wire intersection which was brutal to sit through at rush hour.
