Found an old appraisal KCMO did when they started the process to widen Barry Road in the 1980's. This is what the intersection littered by yellow signs looks like today.
This is what it looked like around 1985. At the time, Platte Purchase was called Baughman Road.
Looking at the second picture and seeing the white house, I don't quite understand why people who decide to live in the country build a house as close to a road as possible (my parents included) when they could have built the house as far away from the street as possible. This is especially true in an urban area where sometime in the future the street will be widened.
