Tomorrow is election day people and 85% of you won't vote but those of that you that do, I strongly recommend you ignore all the mailers and media and vote for Tony Luetkemeyer for State Senate in the Republican primary. Tony lives in Platte County and since most of the residents in the senate district live here, it would be nice for the first time in forever to have someone in the state senate who actually lives here.
I've heard more about Harry Roberts from Rob Schaaf than anything else and frankly Rob Schaaf has become a big disappointment to me. Have you ever seen Schaaf around southern Platte County in nearly eight years he's been a Senator?
I lost respect for Schaaf when he killed HB 1633/SB 552 this past session. I even asked him why and got no response.
That's great but why did you kill HB 1633/SB 552? Seems like giving more power to a county prosecutor or sherrif to request an audit would be good government policy. Doesn't require the audit to happen but just allows them to request vs gathering petitions. pic.twitter.com/9fSEG4Yr3L— Line Creek Loudmouth (@LCLoudmouth) June 2, 2018
This bill would have allowed sheriffs and prosecutors to request audits from the state auditor and was sponsored by Representative Bob Dixon of Springfield in response to some issues in Greene County and even supported by our Democrat State Auditor Nicole Galloway.
I became aware of it because of the grassroots effort which had to gather 6500+ signatures to request an audit of Clay County (VOTE JERRY NOLTE) in response to document tampering allegations. This bill would have allowed the County Sheriff or Prosecutor to request the audit versus citizen volunteers having to gather the inordinate amount signatures when things as blatant as this are happening in your government.
Rob Schaaf apparently doesn't think that's a good idea and killed the bill.
Commnrs. Ridgeway & Owen spent more than $100k of public money on lobbyists (& got a political favor from @robschaaf) to defeat my #HB1633 to permit an audit as part of misconduct investigations (along w/ other good measures to catch child predators & to prevent SWATting). #MoLeg— Kevin Corlew (@KevinCorlew) July 19, 2018
They said they fought #HB1633 because an audit would @claycountymo more than $100k. (BTW, the audit HB1633 wouldn't cost the county anything.) If they're concerned w/ taxpayer money, why would they spend $100k on lobbyists and $200k for a former admin. to do nothing? #MoLeg— Kevin Corlew (@KevinCorlew) July 19, 2018
Why would Rob Schaaf do that? No idea. It seems odd that out of all the bills this past year, he would take an interest in this one not passing but it does have an odd connection to the current goings on in Clay County. How? I don't know but I took a gander at Clay County (Clay County being the county that just had 9800+ citizens sign a petition requesting an state audit) Assistant Administrator Nicole Brown's LinkedIn profile and noticed Rob Schaaf's 2010 campaign.
Rob Schaaf killing a good government bill soured me on all of his grandstanding and sanctimonious pontificating about this race and I really don't want any friends of Rob in the state Senate killing any more good government bills.
Do me a favor and vote Tony Luetkemeyer for State Senate. I'd like a State Senator I can call about things that are important to Platte County and one that actually will engage with us.
Eric Zahnd for Platte County Prosecutor. I can't tell you how nice it is to have he and his staff taking care of business. What he did that got the ethics complaint was what I would have done. Child molesters should face justice and no one should apologize or excuse what a child molester did for leniency. I 100% support his approach to keeping our kids safe and he deserves our vote.
If you live in Clay County, I'm sorry but I can't stomach it. All I know is we went through this in 2014. Like then, I'd vote for Jerry Nolte. For the other offices, you need to see what the leaders of the citizen audit group are saying here to fix your government to learn about the candidates for office.
As the disclaimer above notes, these are not the positions of anyone I work for, sleep with, or associate with and are strictly my opinions being voiced under the 1st Amendment.
Meanwhile, after this race, Tony may be singing and dancing a little song......
